With the departure of P Cooke and the injury of R Wilkinson, P Mennell had a timely arrival at Donny. Interestingly, all of his three tries came from chasing grubber kicks.
Against Whitehaven, when D Nicklas kicked through, P Mennell ran through to catch the ball. From there he seemed to beat a few opposition players by spinning around a few times and then diving over the line.
In a Batley match, M Emmett kicked through. P Mennell chased, beat an opposition player and dived on the ball when it was over the line.
In a Hunslet Hawks match, he chased his own kick. The ball looked as through it was collected by an opposition player, but then somehow he dropped it. P Mennell dived on the loose ball.
So in his short time with Donny, he played well. It was a shame that he was injured badly during a Featherstone match.
I wish him all the best in his new role at Dewsbury.
