My mac keeps making a loud noise. It sounds similar to general loading noises but then gets louder and louder like a plane taking off. It went through a spell of doing it then stopped for months now it's started again. Any ideas? I don't think it's the fans because it isn't getting hot, doesn't seem to matter if I'm working it hard and I downloaded a fan control programme which didn't seem to indicate that they were running fast. Any ideas?

It was the fans after all, had to get two replaced

always check your activity monitor, I find "google chrome helper" is the culprit whenmine starts to sound like it's trying to take off
