| No golden point this year then. Am I wrong in saying that that's a change in stance from previous years from the RFL?

Not sure, I was looking up the golden point issue the other day on the RFL website and could find no details.
According to the link its 80 mins and if scores are level - replay.

| Thats naff, it should be golden point. Neither team can afford to fit in an extra game in a busy season, and it makes it unsatisfactory for the fans as well as the players.
The CC Final is the biggest occasion in the RL calendar and it should at least have a result.

| Agreed - should be settled on the day - even if it goes against us.

Agreed.
All the other rounds of the Challenge Cup have golden point, why is the final different?
Plus playing the final on a Tuesday night in Bolton on BBC2 kind of devalues the competition a bit.

To be honest I'd agree with you, golden point probably should decide the outcome if it's a draw after 80 minutes.
From an emotional point of view it adds a sense of drama to proceedings. From a practical point of view, in the current financial climate an additional game again to go to may stretch people's finances too much.

I'm surprised - I was convinced that in the past few years the final would go to golden point if necessary, oh well, learn something new every day

| I'd hate to see my team lose in what effectively would become "Who could kick a drop goal" first as you'd think a penalty would be hard to come by and given the fatigue scoring a try wouldn't be easy.
I guess as a player, this is all you want, this is what you've looked forward to since being a kid, is it right that you could lose theortetically in extra time without touching the ball, five drives, just inside their half, wallop, see you later.
Bitter pill to swallow that. If the sides are that evenly matched, do it all over again for me.

The game should be decided at Wembley. The Cup presentation, the lap of honour, the sunny afternoon.
Nah, Bolton is wrong.
