| When are we going to either employ runners into our game plan or get a coach that does because today we dominated them for at least the first 15 minutes and come away with 2 points they make one break and go under the sticks we have no imagination at all it's embarrassing you would have thought we were playing against 14 men they had that much space at times

| For large parts of that game (all but the 10 minute spell we had them on the rack) it was 1 up rugby. Frustrating to watch us still shackled by the structure Wane is obsessed with.

| Perhaps when we get some decent backs, Davis just puts his head down and barges, Gildart runs down blind alleys and never seems to want to pass these days - for all the criticism that he gets about his defense at least Marshall can actually beat someone. Williams is limited and Powell does not create anything, we missed Sam massively today to act as a link. Teams have worked out the left side shift and drop off to Farrell and that just about negates any attacking threat as nothing happens down the right.
Second half Joel started playing more off the cuff and started being a major threat, he certainly created more on his own that our halves did whole game. Perhaps someone should explain the concepts of dummy runners and lining up at depth - basics which the team seem to have forgotten.

I used to trust him but lately (last season especially even injuries permitting and this as well to some extent) I am getting frustrated - we have talented backs but they are not playing to their full potential, look at the way the Saints wingers made yards/breaks against us, our backs looked slow and lost at times. The talent is there but the style of play does not allow them to show it - they never seem to have space. We missed Sam yesterday big time as no one was creating anything from half back and Escare was clearly not fully fit.
Bateman is obviously not a centre (but needs must for now but will Sarge be much better - time will tell) but for me Gildart has gone backwards for some reason - he does not look anywhere near the level he did previously (but again is it just a case of tactics for him to drive the ball in like a forward when he clearly is nowhere near big enough for that role - he is a runner but if no one puts him in space.....). There is a lack of creativity from half back, even Lockers does not seem to create things like he used to.
The worrying thing is these are issues that have been obvious for quite some time - this season has started a little better but the worry is against good teams who deny us space we look lost and struggle to break them down.
I have supported Wigan through everything since the late 60s / early 70s (even relegation etc) when the team has had some awful teams at times (and great ones as well) and will continue to do so - but that does not mean I will not voice my opinion.

| It’s no surprise that since Harris & Deacon left without being properly replaced our attack has took a steady nose dive into the drivel we see most weeks now.
There’s times when Williams has to take a drive in because the other 12 are running around with their heads up their backsides. That’s down to poor organisation by the halves. Our props make next to no ground going forward and for the millionth time this FB-HB-Hooker switch is utterly dismal.
I don’t deny that SW is a good motivator and he’s well liked by the players and has huge respect at the club but he isn’t bigger than it. He clearly has no clue in attack and his game plan on GF was to smash them in the first 15mins and see what happens. As stated above we played well for around 10-15mins in total and Saints dominated the rest, only being kept out through good defence.
I really think IL (at the end of the season) needs to seriously consider the squad that SW has assembled, the direction he’s going, the game plan he employs and the coaches he’s brought in and consider whether SW’s time as Head Coach is up. Sentiment shouldn’t be a reason to retain a Head Coach; Cunningham at St Helens is perfect example of this. He was moved on for the better of the club and they improved dramatically after it.

I'm hardly Wane's biggest fan, but even I can see it would be madness to get rid of him when we are 2nd in the league. No comparison to Cunningham at all

I find the degree to which Wane is criticised baffling. You have to be willingly blind to the positives to think they are outweighed by our attack being different to Saints or wanting our props to fall over. Especially given the disruption in the Saints game.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not comparing us now to Saints under Cunningham and where they were. Two different situations. What I was saying is when it comes to the club, we shouldn’t and can’t afford to put sentiment first. The interests of the club come before any individual, despite what they may have done for it achieved at the club.
