What I don't understand is why you need him to keep proving himself but not Walmesly or anyone else.
He's played well in SL once he settled in. Was great last year and has been one of our best this year.

There's a lot of players, Walmsley included, who have to prove themselves at SL. The difference is, Atoni has already played SL and was poor. 

Yes he was great last year playing against part timers, but it doesn't change his performances in 2023. 
I agree he's been good so far, but one of our best, really? He's made a good start, we all agree on that, but I don't know why it needs to be overplayed. If he carries on like he did at Warrington for a full season then he's in for a great year. 

Agree' would as we have now a pack that play as one and every forward does is bit to take the team forward .So Trojan  are you saying we should have the same rule for Jowitt and T J and the other players who had stinkers against Saints . If they do not improve over the season they should be moved  on ? Atoni was the forward last year who lifted the fans when he came on to the pitch And I think this season he his looking just as good against much stronger team's than are in the Championship

I challenge you to find a single post where I have said that Walmsley doesn’t need to prove himself capable in SL. I have said I have confidence that he is but that’s not the same thing. 

You can’t just twist things to mean something else I didn’t actually say. 

I’m getting tired of repeating myself so I’ll make it clear. 
Nowhere did I say that Atoni in 2023 didn’t play well. In fact I said that he did the last 3rd of the season. I never said he wasn’t good last year either so don’t see how that relates to my comments. As for being one of the best this year. I have said he has played very well the two games he has played so you’re practically agreeing with me. 
All I have said is I want to see more that just two games and it looks like he’s making a good case for his retention so far. 
I haven’t ever said Walmsley doesn’t need to prove himself. Purely that I have confidence he is SL standard (which on his two showings vs Saints and KR he is). He also needs to prove himself consistently to state his case. 
There are 3 quota in Walmsley, Faatili and Atoni aiming for 2 spots. The best performing 2 will likely get them but they all deserve a few games to prove it. 
Of the 3 it will be a bit harder for Walmsley simply because we have a few highly rated young lads like Myers, Tchamambe and Roarke (assuming we trigger extension) who can play there. 
I haven’t written any of them off but I want to make my mind up after a handful more games. 

1. Where did I say we should have a rule that if a player has a stinker and doesn’t improve we should move them on? YOU not me literally just made that up and passed it off as something I said.  Why do that???
2. With the context of me saying I would like Atoni to show his good form consistently before I make up my mind fully. How has TJ and Max now been brought into it as they are proven SL players. We know they are capable at SL level already. It’s players who haven’t played SL or limited SL that need to prove in varying degrees their capability at this level. 
3. I haven’t passed comment on Atoni last year. We are talking about SL and I’ve already said that Atoni is playing well these first 2 games. I don’t know whether you’re saying that as if I had disagreed at some point when I have already said he’s playing well.
