I dont think Williams has ever given us value for money.
I'm not even slightly bothered by him leaving. He goes down as just another bad decision in the failed 'galactico' recruitment strategy of our club.
Hopefully we will start to move away from that desperate model now.
That's an interesting observation.
Hopefully our galactico strategy is over now and we will stick with the model of signing hungry 'project' players who won't break the bank like Roderick Tai, Dan Russell and Oli Leyland. That's an approach that gets a far warmer reception among Wire fans.
I guess the author was hoping for those players that fit between those polar opposites. But the level of debate on here means we have to have this facile "false dilemma" between galactico and basement, bargain bucket players like you have mentioned.
Plenty of other clubs make sound signings without breaking the bank. One of them is currently top of the league.
