And who says they aren't going to???? Or are just assuming its going to be an unpaid or cheap internship and not a paid one?

I did a free internship and was greatful for the valuable experience I got that was worth more in my job hunting than any of my qualifications plus I got a nice bonus for the job I did at the time.

It would be nice if everyone could afford to work unpaid

I remember the days well when any Bod could get a job working for the club on the back of a few pints in the pub with those who were in charge of the club so to knock something that is very 21st century beggars belief a bit. I don't like unpaid work at all but if it helps some-one along the way in the workforce so be it.

As I said, fine if you or your parents can afford for you to take unpaid work.

There's still no getting away from the fact that it is exploitative and I would hope our club would be above that

I never said I could and FYI I couldn't really so did other jobs on top to make it pay. Like the ad says its an opportunity and people will either take it or not. Like I said I looked at the bigger picture & what the benefits would be for me so i took the opportunity and have not looked back since. If it wasn't for the opportunity I was given I doubt I would now be running my own company.

If there's a job of work to be done, pay the suitable candidate a wage for doing it!

I would hope both or one of you have actually contacted the club and confirmed whether it is an unpaid or paid internship and the actual specifics of it before running down the club about providing an opportunity for someone.

Great opportunity for a student over the Summer. Students have changed since these two were that age, most nowadays budget their student finance over 52 weeks anyway, so would jump at the chance.

Think it's a good idea.
